Georgetown Skating Club Competition
Saturday, February 20, 2016

Once again, it is time for the Georgetown Skating Club’s annual Club Competition.  For the past two years, we have run a formal competition with our friends from the Acton Skating Club.  With the introduction of the new Star 1-5 program with Skate Canada, it has become much more difficult to run this competition properly at the Club level.  We have decided to move in a different direction.

This year, we will run our very first Georgetown Skating Club Team Competition on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

The event will begin at 10am.  Schedules will be finalized once the entry deadline has passed.

Each participant will join one of three teams for the day.  They will compete in all events individually.  The results from each skater’s two best events will contribute to their team’s overall score.  The team with the highest number of points at the end of the day will be awarded the gold medal!

The teams will be divided up by our professional coaching staff. This will ensure fairness, and hopefully, the need for a tiebreaker at the end of the day.

Once the teams have been formed, we will be hosting a Pizza Party Team Building Night on February 16, 2016 at 6:00pm to allow the skaters to meet each other, and create cheers, banners, and a Team Name.  More details to follow.

Events offered will include Freeskates (Solos; Elements for Star 1 skaters), Interpretive Skates, Junior Dance, and Skate Extreme events.  We will end the day with a relay race, hopefully with all participants.
Participants will be required to enter a minimum of two events, one of which must be their Freeskate.  Skaters in the Adult Program may enter only one event if they wish.  There is no limit to the number of events entered, however, only the scores from their two best events will count towards the team score.  Full details will be outlined in the official announcement.

We are offering this Competition for a flat fee of $60 per skater.  Again, a minimum of two events must be entered, but you can enter as many as you wish.

This is also an opportunity to earn Volunteer Credits.  We will need help throughout the day, as well as food donations.  Both will go towards earning back your volunteer fee.

We welcome vendors interested in joining us for the day.  Please contact me if you know someone who may wish to set up a booth.

We hope you will join us for this fun event.
